ipad pro 11 2020 functions

I heard the new ipad pro 11 (2020) does not have a HOME button. Can someone tell me where all the buttons are?

on/off

finger print scanner (I dont want to use ‘facial recognition’)

Home

Sound on/off and volume

OR can someone direct me to a site that explains how i find all the functions?

Being as all stores are currently closed due yo Covid-19, I cannot physically see the pro 11”

i currently use an ipad pro 9.7” which I LOVE but don’t want to upgrade to the pro 11” if there is too much change in how i move around on the ipad.

Thank you for your help.

The recent iPad Pro models use Face ID. No Home Button. And Face ID can be left off, as was stated.

Face ID does work well, though if you’re not wearing a face mask and as has been widely reported.

Slide up at the bottom of the display to activate the equivalent of the Home button, and other functions.

This bottom-slide-up gesture also works on many other iPhone and iPad models with current software.

Including yours.

Apple has a horizontal bar shown here.

Mute and other functions are accessed from the control panel. Slide down from upper right.

As with the Home gesture, this upper-right-slide-down gesture now works with other iPhone and iPad models.

Again, including yours.

Apple has a horizontal bar shown here, too.

The following is from the camera side, but it’s the best picture I could find of the on-off (sleep-wake) and volume physical buttons:

You are correct, it does not have a home button. It also does not use Touch ID, it uses Face ID, which you state you do not wish to use. You do not have to activate Face ID, you will just use the Passcode screen and type in the passcode for the iPad. Again, there is no home button, you get home by swiping upwards from the bottom of the screen. There are volume buttons on the side of the iPad and the sleep/wake power button is on the top. You can go to Apple's website and see information about the iPads here, iPad - Apple There is a selection on the top menu there to compare iPad Models.

In response to one of of the other posts I responded to you in.

Your current 2016, 9.7 inch screen iPad Pro is the one that is experiencing the unresponsive, intermittent touch screen issue?

This is very uncommon as the 2016, 9.7 inch iPad Pro models were the only iPad Pro model NOT experiencing any touch screen issues.

After you upgraded/updated that 9.7 inch screen iPad Pro to the latest iPadOS version, did you try a simple hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?

The 9.7 inch screen iPad Pro models, for some unknown reason, have been largely immune to this intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issue.

It seems only the larger screen iPad Pro models are only affected by this issue.

Try the hard reset.

There have been plenty.

I have fielding all of these posts on both the iPad Pro and now the new 2019 iPad Air 3 for quite sometime, now.

This is a real and long going issue with no resolution from Apple for now over 18-month, now.

The 2019 iPad Air 3 models started having this intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issue with the introduction of iPadOS back in September/October 2019.

iPad Pro models since, at least iOS 12.

I am well aware of your championing of this matter.

I’m also aware of your reticence around updates and upgrades.

But thank you for your reminder.

And I’m aware of systems that had, and no longer have, the issue that you are championing.

Whether this issue is or remains endemic with other or additional examples, I have no data.

But it’s (now) working here.

I’m not sure what you’re looking for with a “hard reset“, though that usually means backing up, wiping, re-installing iPadOS, and restoring the backup. That’s fairly involved, though that has cured a few weird cases.

There’s also a iPad reboot / restart, which won’t disrupt your apps and data.

Back when I was having “fun” with the iPad Pro displays becoming insensitive, toggling the sleep-wake button was sufficient to immediately clear the issue. No restart was needed. And as mentioned, I’ve not seen issues in recent iPadOS versions, including on the exact same iPads that were previously once suffering soporific screens.

And there are iPhone and iPad devices which have developed bad touch screens. I had an iPhone suffer that fate, many years ago.

This intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issue affects a continuing, growing minority of iPad Pro users/models across all 4 years of iPad Pro models, as well as the new 2019 10.5 inch screen iPad Air 3, which is based from the 2017, 10.5 inch screen iPad Pro models.

Take a look at these long standing, longer posts on the subject of this intermittent, unresponsive touch screen

issue, below.

There is STILL no “official” confirmed iOS updates, solutions/fixes, from Apple, after nearly 18 months, now!

None.

That is because this issue is either STILL only affecting a growing, but still very small minority of iPad Pro users OR iPad Pro users are simply NOT reporting this issue enough here in these official Apple iPad support communities OR simply NOT posting enough feedback to Apple about this intermittent, unresponsive iPad Pro touch screen issue to alert the proper responsible and cognizant Apple employees and teams and get them working on this iPad Pro touch screen problem.

There have been many, MANY more posts than these three for the past 18 months!

These are just the longest active and running posts, to date!

For quite some time, these intermittent, unresponsive touch screen posts were, at least, 2-3 a day and some days up to a dozen, or so a day and I fielded every single one of these posts through out the 18 months this issue has been going on!

Also, see my two postings about this in the Lounge, also.

Thr new hard reset procedure for the new 2018/2020 iPad Pro models with no Home button.

1. Press and release the volume UP button.

2. Then immediately press and release the volume DOWN button.

3. Then, press and hold the Power button at the top. You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the Power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018 iPad Pro will boot up completely to the iPad Pro’s Lock screen.
