Help! Photos taken during a FaceTime call is not saved. Both iPhone & iPad are on very 13.4. Searched the web and tried:

  • turning FaceTime feature off/on
  • resetting the device
  • WiFi feature off/on

Hi there, grandmaEarle,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. I understand that Live Photos you take in FaceTime aren't being saved on your iPhone and iPad. I'm happy to help!

In order to save a Live Photo from FaceTime, both your device and the people you are talking to's device(s) need to be running iOS 12.1.4 or later, or iPadOS, according to the below information from Use FaceTime with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support:

"To save FaceTime Live Photos, all participants need iOS 12.1.4 or later, or iPadOS. Not all features of FaceTime Live Photos are available with earlier versions of iOS. FaceTime Live Photos doesn’t work with iOS 11."

If the other person is using a Mac, they must be running macOS 10.13.6 or macOS Mojave 10.14.4 or later, and have Live Photos enabled in their FaceTime settings: Take a Live Photo in FaceTime on Mac - Apple Support.

If this does not address your issue, don't hesitate to respond back!

Best!

Thanks so much for following up, grandmaEarle!

It's wonderful everyone is on the latest iOS version. Since the issue continues even though you're all using the right iOS versions, I would next suggest checking to makes sure your device has enough storage: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support.

If you still need help after that, and/or everyone is having the same issue, I'd suggest getting in touch with Apple Support directly: Contact Apple Support.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your assistance. Checked all devices to ensure we are all on the latest iOS version which is 13.4.1. Reset our iPhones and toggled the WiFi feature. Still no luck in saving the FT photos.

we used to be able to save our FT photos and maybe around the first week of April it stopped saving.

When we take the FT phones the iPhone displays that a FT photo has been taken, however, when we look in the Photo app it’s not there.

Any other thoughts? We welcome any and all suggestions.

Mahalo again!
