Canon has suspended Mac support for many of their printers. Thus, older drivers are not being updated as macOS is upgraded. If there is no Catalina driver at Canon's support site, then you might see if you can find a driver here: Gutenprint Supported Printers.

Canon PIXMA MX310 - Canon Support

Available drivers: 0
Your operating system: macOS 10.15 (Catalina)
Unfortunately your device is no longer supported under the selected operating system.
This product is compatible with the following operating systems: OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion), Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

“Device no longer supported” seems to be the key word. Software support seems to be abandoned in 2014 (Yosemite) already for this 2007 product.
