Message App Won’t Open

Hi,

every time I try to open my messages, it goes to a white screen and then crashes.

before, it went to a plain black screen black then crashed. But I updated my phone and now it does it with a white screen

i have updated my phone, as I mentioned, and turned it off and on about 15 times. I tried to fix it in settings but when I click “Messages” in settings, it asks me to type in my Apple ID email and then says the iMessage Activation is unable to connect to the server. I still can’t open my messages app, I’ve trued leaving it all night and it still won’t work.

what do I do?
