compressor - low CPU/GPU usage

Hello, first post here. I just got a 16" MBP and testing my render speed from compressor. Speeds are indeed faster than my 2014 MBP, but not as impressive as I'd hoped. Most notable to me is the is low cpu and gpu usage while rendering. Do the experts here have any advice on something I can do that would allow let compressor tap into the hardware? Image attached.

Thanks in advance!

It all depends on the codec you're encoding to. Not all codecs can be processes the same way. And not all computer process can take up 100 percent of your resources, some have to be processed in specific sized chunks. Compressor uses what it is able to use already. If you're doing H.264 on a Mac that has that hardware encoding built-in to the CPU, you won't see that resource show up anywhere. Render speeds do not increase to lightning fast across the board with upgrades.

What codec are you starting with, what codec are you writing to?

Thank you so much for the response. I'm editing mpeg-4 and exporting to h264. I've seen huge performance increases in other areas with the new computer, but rendering out a 6 hour lecture has only seen about a 15% decrease in exporting time.

Is there an obvious option I should taking instead. Is there a preferable format to export to than h264 for uploading to online video platforms?

Thanks again for the time.
