Airdrop does not work between my own device.

When I set my Airdrop settings to "Contact Only". I can choose my contacts but I can't see my iCloud devices. But when I set it as everyone, my own devices are visible. All my devices are visible in my iCloud account. It's the same on all my devices. I can't send from iPhone to iPad or Mac. I can't send from Mac to iPhone and iPad. I can send it to my wife's device with different sessions. Help me please.

Hi PsyDye,

Thank you for your return. Everything is as it should be. All my Apple devices are defined in iCloud. I can see my devices when I send a file. It never sends. I can send the settings when I change it to "everyone". An interesting problem. I added screenshots. I'll be happy if you can help me. I think it is a problem caused by updates.

Best Regards.

Hi Master of Jedi,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! I understand you are unable to send files via AirDrop to devices that are signed in using the same Apple ID. I'd like to help.

It sounds like you're familiar with how to use AirDrop to send files, as you can send to your wife's device. To make sure we've covered all bases, take a look over these articles:

-How to use AirDrop on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. Specifically, the section titled, 'Before you begin'.

-Use AirDrop on your Mac - Apple Support. Specifically, the section titled, 'If you can't see the other device in AirDrop'.

If the same issue remains, be sure all of your devices, iOS and macOS, are updated to the latest software: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support, and How to update the software on your Mac - Apple Support. Then, test AirDrop once more for resolution.

Best regards.

PsyDye,

An interesting issue, indeed. If you have confirmed that all of your devices are using the latest iOS and macOS, but the behavior remains, you should reach out to Apple Support next. They will continue to investigate this behavior to find the best solution. You can use this link to connect: Contact - Official Apple Support.

Thank you for your time! Take care.

I found it in a forum. I blocked my numbers myself. I have no idea how it happened.

On your Mac:

  1. Open up Messages App
  2. Go to Messages > Preferences
  3. Select Accounts Tab
  4. Select Blocked Tab
  5. Locate and delete any instances of your own phone number and/or email addresses
  6. Close and wait ~5 minutes for iCloud to sync the changes across all your devices

On IOS:

  1. Go to Settings -> Messages -> Blocked
  2. Same as step 5 and 6 above

Airdrop does not work between my own device.
