Primary and alias email addresses

I currently have one primary icloud email address. I would like to create an alias email address and then notify respective people of my new alias email address. Once that is accomplished I would like to delete the primary email address and effectively have the alias email as my primary email.

Can I do this............or can I just for whatever time period ( weeks, months, whatever )disable the primary email and use the alias one?

Also, Is there some way I can bounce specific emails back to the sender???

Thanks

You cannot delete your primary address: just keep it as a login and don't give it out. You can create an alias to give out - mail to that address will turn up in the inbox alongside mail to the primary address - but you can't use an email alias as a login nor turn into an Apple ID/primary address. (In any case I advise against having the login address and the address you give out the same as it removes a layer of security).

As to bouncing, go to the Mail page at icloud.com., click the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Rules'. You can set up a Rule to forward messages from a specific address and mark them as read:

There is also an option to move them to the Trash and mark as read, but no option to both forward them and move them to the Trash.
