Discrepancy when tracking distance on Series 4

Can anyone help me figure this out? My wife and I take long walks, pretty much every day . We tend to make a competition out of everything to the point that we start and stop our watches at the same time. For some reason, 9 out of 10 times I've noticed that her distance tracking has estimated that she has walked more than I have after our walks, even though we are walking side by side. I would understand if would understand if we were talking about calories burnt, but this is distance. The distance should be the same no matter what. For instance this morning we went for a 2 hour walk and I came out at 5.29, yet her result stated 5.45. What the heck?

Hi there,

Try following these steps on the iPhone to solve your issue:

  1. Go into Settings > Privacy > Make sure that Location Services are on.
  2. Scroll down and tap Apple Watch Workout > While Using the App.
  3. Continuing on from the previous step, go back a step and scroll down. Tap System Services and make sure that Motion Calibration and Distance is turned on. This will change the setting on your Apple Watch as well.
  4. Exiting out of the Settings app, now enter the Watch app on the homescreen.
  5. Scroll down and tap Privacy > Reset Fitness Calibration Data.
  6. Shut down the Apple Watch and then shutdown your iPhone. Wait 10 seconds before turning on your iPhone.
  7. After the iPhone has finished turning on, start up the Apple Watch. This should've hopefully fixed your issue.
