I ordered the 2020 MacBook Air with a custom configuration of 16 GB ram and i7 processor. My order just moved from processing to preparing to ship on Monday. How long does it usually take for it be shipped after this stage, if anyone has experience with this sort of order?
Here's how it went for me. I know when trying to research the same topic as you this is the sort of answer I was looking for.
I ordered a 27-inch iMac with a memory upgrade. The whole process took 13 days for me. I'm sure there are lots of things that can make an order take longer, but this is how it went for me.
Order Placed: July 22nd
Processing: July 23rd
Card Charged: July 25th
Preparing to Ship: July 28th
Shipped: July 29th
Delivered: August 4th
All that after 12 days of your order date ? did it fall between you expected delivery time
I bought exactly the same date, and also i called to Apple. They said that everything is good.
Just have some patience

And it just changed to preparing to ship, delivery estimate also changed to Dec. 31-Jan. 8

****, I thought I had it worse ordered mine on 27 still processing and expected on 4-11.
You probably bought the base model (no add-ons to the hardware or software). Basically package and send out for courier to deliver.
Most probably it depends on the customization. If you upgrade then it may take a longer time as compared to choosing a default option.
It will come before the 9th for sure.

Update: I got an update that my macbook has shipped. New expected arrival date: April 21st.
My Ipad Pro 2021
has been marked at "preparing for shipment" for three days (going on four) ! I am more than frustrated!
