I previously had apple music with the student discount but cancelled by subscription and now I want to subscribe again (still as a student). My apple ID is different than my school email, but when I try to verify that I am a student it says that my school email is already in use. How do I log in using my apple ID (different than my school email) and not have it tell my my school email is already in use?

It sounds like you will need to contact UNiDAYS. Please see: Get an Apple Music student subscription and the section under "Get help with your UNiDAYS account".
