Student Account Already In Use

I previously had apple music with the student discount but cancelled by subscription and now I want to subscribe again (still as a student). My apple ID is different than my school email, but when I try to verify that I am a student it says that my school email is already in use. How do I log in using my apple ID (different than my school email) and not have it tell my my school email is already in use?
