iPhone SE 2020 - Screen Protector

Is anyone having problems applying their screen protectors to the new iPhone SE 2020.

I consider myself an expert at applying screen protectors, having very little tolerance for air bubbles.

HOWEVER, today I’ve gone through four glass screen protectors, all failing to apply around the outer edge.

Apple quote that the SE is identical casing and screen to the iPhone 8, however I have now doubting this.

Looking for some answers.

I’ve had the very same issue using a no name cheap protector, a Belkin Screen Force, and finally a Spigen GLAStR.

All have the same halo around the edges.

It would be a huge coincidence indeed if three different brands all failed in an identical manner.

There must be a subtle difference in the edge bevel of the new screens.

Hi Joe

i bought this also. Yellow box, sure it’s the same. However yes no Halo but the edges of the protector gives a ‘rainbow’ effect like a prism. I found it annoying so removed it.

To me if it’s a non halo protector it shows a rainbow. If it’s slightly too big it has no rainbow but leaves a halo.

cheers

Finally!

I finally found a screen cover that actually sticks completely, no halo-effect and no rainbow-effect. I can't remember if I stumbled upon it or if someone in this chain recommended it. I ordered it from Best Buy. Company: Insignia, Glass screen protector 2-pack, for iPhone 8. It wasn't very expensive. Now, I know it's posted for iPhone 8, but I've had this one on my new iPhone SE 2020 since June 13 with ZERO issues/problems! I wanted to wait a while to see if the edges would lift in time with use. I've been pretty rough with it, and this screen protector impresses me! Good luck everyone!

I have always been told that Apple don’t sell tempered glass screen protectors. They say you don’t need one.

however we all know that to keep your phone in it’s best condition and for the unexpected drop or keys in the bag moment for the wife the screen can be scratched or cracked.

Apple like with the iPhone 6s have gone to a manufacturer that slightly curve the screen more than with the 7, 8, X 11. As nobody gets this issue unless you have ‘some’ ip6s or now all ipSE 2020 models.

slightly smaller protectors clash with the end of the display and give off a rainbow effect 🌈 and larger protectors (1mm) then don’t stick to the curve and leave a halo.

some Full screen protectors can look better but then the case you buy won’t fit without lifting the edges of the protector.

A good solution is the material wet on protector made from repairable soft clear PET. This it not as hard do bends in the edges. The material is used on helicopter blades and can repair itself on minor scratches.

I have seen it made by Spigen, Knight, Zagg. However they may now have been discontinued in preference to tempered glass. (These are not the thin PET material plastic ones but a better alternative)

For me I have picked the best glass one I could get to fit and my wife thinks it’s fine. Would drive me nuts with a halo but she doesn’t really care.

cheers All 👍😎

I am having this exact issue with a refurbished iPhone 11 pro I bought on Amazon. I'm the one that puts on screen protectors in the family because I'm OCD about placement and have never had a problem.

I'm on my 3rd screen protector and am having to just live with it because of how much money I've spent on different screen protectors. 🙁
