Moving email between accounts in Apple Mail

I am trying to move an email from one account (Outlook) to another (Gmail) using Apple Mail.

  1. Both are set up as valid and working accounts which sync properly with their respective servers (and mailboxes are up to date in other apps as well).
  2. However, when I move the email from the Outlook account set up in Apple Mail to the Gmail account by right clicking and "moving to", the email moves in Apple Mail, but not on the server side.
  3. As a result, when checking Gmail with an iOS device or through gmail.com, the email does not appear in Gmail and the moved email disappears from the originating account in Apple Mail as well (i.e. Outlook).

Any ideas?

Meaning, the account where the email is moved-from would, in a sense, automatically forward the email to the moved-to account. Of course I could just forward emails from one account to another but it would be so much convenient the other way ...
