Getting this error message whenever using my MacBook Pro 16" after sleep for more than 1hr. Now getting quite irritating. Called Apple Support and ran Disk diagnostics, Rebooted in diagnostic mode for hardware test, did the Reset of SMC controller due a one sec burst of fan activity when restarting. All diagnostics reporting no issues.

I think more users need to complain to Apple Support to get this issue escalated. The rep I talked to gave me the impression that this is a problem that only I am having.

This same issue has been plaguing me for weeks with a brand new MacBook Pro 16". Came across the following:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/sudden-graphics-corruption-16-macbook-pro.2230856/

"Okay so I'm only seeing it in Chrome, at least today. I turned off Chrome's hardware acceleration and it seems to have disappeared... Not really sure whats going on."

I did made the same change in chrome settings just now and it fixed it instantly. Where as before the machine would crash coming back from sleep, now goes into sleep instantly and wakes just as it should.

Again, I just tried this a moment ago, but it seems to do the trick. I'll update if the problem comes back.

Leaving my MacBook at the apple store for a couple of weeks means I don't work for a couple of weeks.

I can't do that, especially when there's no guarantee it is actually going to be fixed, or that it would only take two weeks.

I'd rather just switch the power nap off than lose work.

I expected apple to do a bit more about this, and at least acknowledge there's something wrong here.

I will continue to buy the MacBook Pro in the future, as it is really usually the best laptop out there, but my next purchase is going to be a few months in after it is released, just to make sure there are no unexpected surprises.

I've had enough of this issue and the "butterfly" keyboard of the previous models.

I just updated macOS to 10.15.6.

I let my computer sleep and after 1hour it didn't do the normal crash,

It was getting worse before where I would have to restarted maybe three times just to get past the progress bar on startup.

Seems much more stable right now.

Praying it's not a hardware issue.

Definitely not a third party app in my case as some users seem to insist in defence of Apple.

Will continue contacting Apple Support until they give me an explanation or appropriate resolution for this incredibly frustrating experience with a very expensive purchase.

Good luck all and hopefully Apple will acknowledge this issue and provide some acceptable guidance or public update.

Hi everybody.

Two weeks ago I did the same thing as Sparktoronto, because my patience was over. Having tried everything, even a new clean install of Catalina 10.15.6 my Mac wouldn't even finish the installation. So I took my 3 month old Mac to the reseller Pro Warehouse were I always buy my stuff. They had the machine for 9 days and yes they came to the same conclusion and replaced the logic board an touchpad unit. So to everybody with this issue off hissing vent quits and unexpected shutdowns, endless opening/closing lid issues; apparently there's something wrong with some logic boards. If you have still a warranty, go for the replacement at your reseller.

My MacBook Pro 16" works good again with Catalina 10.15.6 installed. It was no software issue but Apple Hardware that failed!

Good luck out there

This issue has gotten progressively worse for me. Now I can only boot up in SAFE MODE as it continually restarts and crashes with the loud fan noise. In my case, the Apple Store technician ran a test and observed problems for about 30min. They told me it will take max 3 days to repair. I am keeping my MacBook Pro until they call me when the parts come in. Resellers or other authorized stores want to keep it for full 2 weeks which I also cannot agree to. Definitely not satisfied with Apple quality control on their top of line laptop. Practically I am forced to get the Apple Care now because I cannot trust them anymore.
