Wireless network adaptor

Looking for advice re what USB dongle would allow me to connect to wifi in our house.

My MacBook Air has stopped picking up wifi. I have tried to fix it, but seems it's a hardware rather than software issue.

While in lockdown, I would rather just get a USB wireless adapter that I can plug in, but have had a good look and can't find anything that I know would work.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction - I am in the UK.

Thanks!

Hello,

Since a MacBook Air is equipped with internal Wi-Fi hardware, I guess that not too many tests have been carried out with USB adapters for this computer. USB wireless adapters need drivers with macOS support, so ensure that software compatible with your operating system version can be found. To begin with, you may want to take a look at what, for example, ASUS and Edimax have to offer.

Good luck!

If your local wireless has a base station unit with USB ports, may be

a way to connect there; and forgo using wireless with that macbook.

..A matter then, of changing settings. And testing to see what happens..

An older Apple express wifi could be used as USB portal for local access.

I've several means to connect here; while 'everythings gone' when source fails!🙂
