When I close the iPad, should the Magic Keyboard's backlight turn off immediately? Mine does not and based on battery drain while the iPad is not in use, it appears the backlight doesn't ever turn off when the iPad is closed. Anyone else experiencing this?

Same, I still have this issue. In the last month, I tried to return it for a replacement. But it still happen with my new replacement for 1 - 3 times with the same problem, the backlight keyboard not turn off every 2 or 3 days. For me, it is not necessely to turn for a third replacement if this problem still stuck with my product and nothing can solve it, especially the service in my province makes me not feeling well. And I think this problem may be affected from the Software (more than the Hardware) that make me still hope for the new update from iPadOS to solve this problem.
Mine does the same thing, I have tried restarting, it still does it after some time using it. It works normally for a while and then stays on and drains battery on my 11 inch... What a joke of 300 dollars to have such a huge bug. I need to get it replaced, but dont really want to deal with it
bossedbredby -- no, there was no discussion of the root cause of the problem. I kept the focus of the discussion about the requirement that I return my keyboard before receiving a replacement. So we did not get into HW/SW issues.
I have read that the problem might be caused from 3rd party apps. Has anybody any information about that? I would like to figure out if there is a possibility to reconstruct this problem. So far I haven’t figured out a pattern.

I have been wondering if that problem still exists? I used to experience it every 2-3 days but I havent had it anymore within the las 2 weeks. I dont know how but it seems like it is gone from my iPad / Keyboard.
My keyboard issue is still here too. It’s my only case. Expensive one at that. Called apple support they said I need to take it to Best Buy. Best Buy said they don’t handle the keyboards. The apple stores are closed. They won’t do an advanced exchange. And I will just wait for the Logitech version next time.
I have exactly the same issue. It randomly happens and I wonder if it is a hardware failure or if it can be fixed through software...
Has anyone received any feedback from Apple on this issue?
Sounds as really bad customer service. Have you had any feedback if it is HW or SW related? I still have the problem which occurs intermittent.

Let’s hope for SW related solution otherwise I will return. The problem is that Apple has not stated anything in this thread that indicates that they even care about this problem.
