MacBook Air 2015

I recently got given a 2015 MacBook Air for college and its been working fine except for some reason it doesn't let me click or move close or around the edges of the trackpad. Is this normal? And if not how can I fix I?

The symptom, as observed from two thousand+ miles distant: may require new top case..

However as mentioned above, distance makes a terrible filter to determine cause of issues.

You may try to troubleshoot in a few ways; to narrow probable cause.

Do you have an external USB keyboard to use? (cheap PC one works)

Try Safe mode on startup, on your Mac.

Touchpad issue generally requires top keyboard section, replaced as one piece.

But not necessarily.

Since the keyboard/touchpad is hardware, you could try SMC reset.

Also the NVRAM/PRAM reset may be helpful. ~ Or not!

Good luck & happy trails!🌻🌤
