iPad Pro 10.5" continually reboots after 13.4.1 update.

Hello all.

Have a 10.5" iPad Pro that reboots every 30-45 seconds when logged in. Even if no apps are running. This started after I updated to 13.4.1. Is it still possible to downgrade? Basically has rendered the iPad useless. Any other suggestions?

I’d try a restore to factory settings. This will wipe the iPad, reset all settings - and, crucially, will install a complete new copy of iPadOS:

If you ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before you begin, you’ll be able to optionally restore your locally stored data at the end of the restore process.

I have two iPad’s Pro 10.5”, within immediate reach, that are working flawlessly with iPadOS 13.4.1.

Not much.

A small footnote of an article mentioned in some obscure sort of tech news blog I never heard of.

And they way that article was written only indicated several users affected with this issue.

No hundreds or thousands of users affected was mentioned or written.

I wouldn't bank on Apple doing anything when only one minority article mentions a very, VERY small minority ( niche ) of iPad Pro users are affected by this issue.

Such a small article in an obscure tech news blog is NOT going to get Apple to do anything.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a fix from Apple, for this boot loop issue, either.

Ok gang. Finally had a convo with a very nice lady from Apple. First thing, apparently they DO monitor these discussions as she specifically mentioned this is where they got my original complaint from. So someone is paying attention.

We spent about 15 minutes on the phone. She asked me the usual tech support type stuff. What was I doing when I updated to 13.4.1, had I added any other apps at the same time (no), how quick did the problem present itself (immediately). Things like that. She was pretty thorough.

We even tried to do remote diagnostics but the iPad wouldn't stay up long enough to connect.

So keep the faith all! It looks like they are (at least) investigating, although she was very clear to say they were not troubleshooting at this time, just gathering information.

By the way, I'm on a couple of different discussions about this problem, so I'm going to copy and paste this post. Just in case you think I'm some sort of bot or something.

Well I've got news from apple today about my device. First the guy on the phone was kinda rude and condescending. Then it ended up that my only option is return my device unrepaired, paying for a 600$ replacement or getting a new one.

I am very frustrated. They got my device this morning and they gave these options in the afternoon, so evidently there is no effort to diagnose the problem… just have to pay more since I'm out of warranty. We are far from the level of quality we expect from apple.

Very frustrated and disappointed.

I would say a majority of people on this forum have been through all of the above steps, myself 3 times. To no avail. Only reply is “send iPad to us for repair, at a cost”. Until Apple acknowledge that update 13.4 was at fault for some of the iPad Pro’s to start the continuous reboot fault. I feel the only solution would be to have deep pockets and purchase a new iPad.

Having to purchase another replacement or new iPad is really no solution and you purchased a lesser iPad model because of it!

Apple needs to “fess up” to this issue as this is clearly caused by some sort of combination of both software and hardware that is NOT the users’ fault.

Throwing more money at this issue ( which most people cannot afford to always do ) does not fix or solve this catastrophic problem.

Any year or model iPad Pro is/was a very expensive device to purchase just to have it completely bricked or made totally useless by an Apple software upgrade/update.

This is clearly one of many issues the with either iPads/iPad Pro and/or iPadOS, that have been currently occurring.

Touch screen issues, boot loop issues and severe battery drain issue with iPadOS updates.

All of these together are not just isolated incidents!

Apple has issues with iOS/iPadOS 13 that do not seem to be being addressed or not being addressed in a timely manner.

I thought the recently introduced iOS/iPadOS 14 was going to be more of a maintenance, bug fix release with very few, if any, new features.

It appears Apple has, once again, made iOS/iPadOS 14 another “new feature” release.

Apple needs to concentrate on fixing all of the bugs that keep constantly appearing now in iPadOS 13 and stop blaming it on iOS device hardware issues.

I have a IPAD PRO 10.5 WIFI 64 GB Version. After updating to IPADOS 13 my IPAD died so I restored to 12.4.1 .

Recently I accidentally updated my ipad and my IPAD is dead now. Since Apple does not sign 12.4.1 anymore I am stuck with a dead IPAD now.

This is ridiculous that I loose my IPAD for no fault of mine. Apple please stop providing updates if you are going to kill our devices which are out of warranty.

I'm experiencing this same issue on my 2nd gen 10.5" iPad Pro (iPad in flawless condition began shutting down on its own immediately after updating from 13.3.1 to 13.4.1, then 13.5.1; this continues even after restoring to factory settings). After a while, my iPad would no longer turn back on with just the power button, and I had to do hard resets to turn it back on at every time it shut down. Now, my iPad will now no longer turn on at all—even with a hard reset—unless I let it it sit for days. Then, it *sometimes* turns back on with a hard reset (holding the buttons down for a LONG time) but almost always shuts back down right away. Majorly frustrating.

At this point, I don't know if I'd even be able to keep my iPad on long enough to update the iOS.
