Shared USB Drives under Catalina

I recently upgraded an old Mac computer with a new Mac Mini. The old Mac computer was running Mojave and shared two Disks. One disk was a Time Machine Backup (Drive Name - Backup). The other shared Drive was a general purpose drive (Drive Name - Media). Both of these drives are now mounted on my new Mac Mini (which came with Catalina installed) and are shared drives via SMB.

I am having trouble accessing these two shared disks from my Macbook Pro that is on the same ethernet network. When I try to mount one of these disks onto my macbook pro, I get the message "The operation can't be completed because the original item {disk name} can't be found.

I seriously want to run Time Machine on my laptop, and I seriously want to be able to access the files on the disk named Media while both are connected to my Mac Mini. This all used to work fine from the old computer running Mojave. Why can't these disks be shared properly under Catalina?
