Time Machine partition backup

I have two partitions (or containers), and OS X on each of them. Time Machine won't backup just the partition I'm using (where I'm logged in using 10.15.4), but instead trying to backup the entire drive. What's up with that?

Time Machine normally backs up the entire drive unless you exclude something. Go to System Preferences > Time Machine > Options, click the plus sign and see if you can exclude the unwanted partition.
