Annoying and continuing Apple Mail problem 😡🤬

My Apple mail continues to open on a saved email in another folder rather than the inbox no matter how I close the mail app. This is extremely annoying and has been the case for the last several iPadOS updates. Can this be fixed or is it just another glitch with Apple software? Currently running iPadOS 13.3.1. If you are not totally sure 13.4 doesn't fix this please note that.

Thanks

You can try removing the Comcast account, then power cycle the iPad and then add it back again. Before cycling the iPad, you can also turn off Mail in iCloud. You will not lose any content, iCloud mail is in iCloud, and the Comcast mail is on the server. After adding back the Comcast account, take a look at it. If it is Okay, then go back in iCloud and turn on Mail again. See what happens.

I have no troubles with my Comcast account I'm guessing that you have your Comcast configured as IMAP. I do not, however, use iCloud mail.

IMAP is the default setup when the iOS device sends information to the server. I've seen Comcast come out as both. It kinda depends. The 12.9 needs to be deleted and then setup again, and it will reflect what is on the server, what you see when you log into Xfinity.com. Once you get them both set up as IMAP, then you can go back and setup folders while on the computer at Xfinity.com and that will all sync to the iPads. I say that, because it would be easier than doing it on the iPads. After that, you could move some of that content back from the iCloud account if you wish.

I have seen this problem for some time and I have seen others complain of the same problem (Google search), but I have never found a solution. I have two email accounts: iCloud and Comcast; however, the problem was there before establishing the iCloud account. It doesn't matter which account or which inbox or which folder I am in when I close the mail app, it always opens to that same saved email in the other created folder. I generally don't update ios until it has been out for some time because I find early releases break more things than they fix. New releases seem to be more interested in adding features rather than fixing bugs. It reminds me of past updates for Microsoft software, although now they seem to be better. In the past, I felt Apple was very good about not releasing buggy updates; now they seem to want the customers to be their beta testers. If I were totally convinced that iPadOS 13.4.1 would fix this problem, I would update, but the last five updates I have installed did not fix this problem even though I reported it several times to their support site.

No, I said that I use my Comcast account on my Apple devices. If you cannot see any of your folders now, please take a moment to log into your Comcast account in their web access with a computer browser. Does it exist in its entirety? If it does, it would seem that something is not appearing correctly on the device. I know, you already said that, but what I mean is what you have configured to appear. When I open mail, I only see my Inbox, because that is how I have it configured. If you tap on Edit in the upper right corner, you can decide what folders you wish to show all the time for your accounts. You can also tap on the Comcast account and see the rest of the folders as well. I'm going to take a moment to get you a couple of screenshots to see if that helps.

Chris,

I really appreciate your trying to help. I just grow weary of Apple. As I said, were it not for the Procreate App, I would toss both of my iPad Pros. I have never found any logic to the way Apple software works. I have been using computers since before most people on these forums were born...starting with CDC and CRAY machines that filled rooms, to Windows based desktops and laptops, and finally to iPad Pros. I have never found logic to the architecture of Apple, but I became accustomed to using it, until something goes wrong.

Unfortunately, I cannot show you my screenshot with the Comcast folders because when I deleted the Comcast account from my 12.9 inch pro and reinstalled it, all my special folders were gone, both on the iPad and on the XFINITY website. Strangely, the Comcast folders remained on my 10.5 inch Pro along with both my iCloud and Comcast accounts...go figure. So, I moved the contents of those special folders to corresponding folders in my iCloud account so I would not lose them. That produced this structure.

As you can see, I am only left with the basic folders in the Comcast account. The move to iCloud worked so I didn't lose the contents. Guess I should be grateful for small favors.

Thanks again for your help.

You never said, were you able to see all of your folders in the web view of your Comcast account? If you look at the Comcast account on the 12.9 iPad does it still show as an IMAP account, because what you showed in the screenshot does not appear like one. Sorry you are experiencing problems like this, but those are the last troubleshooting steps I could recommend.
