Annoying and continuing Apple Mail problem 😡🤬

My Apple mail continues to open on a saved email in another folder rather than the inbox no matter how I close the mail app. This is extremely annoying and has been the case for the last several iPadOS updates. Can this be fixed or is it just another glitch with Apple software? Currently running iPadOS 13.3.1. If you are not totally sure 13.4 doesn't fix this please note that.

Thanks

I've never seen that error, but you are behind a couple of updates. The latest is iOS 13.4.1. I cannot say what might fix this, since I've not seen it, so I cannot say that iOS 13.4.1 won't fix it. How many mail accounts do you have on the iPad? Os if you go out to the Inbox, or listing of mail accounts if you have more than one, it will open to a received mail in another folder? It is even more unusual that it has been occurring for multiple updates. Who is the email account from, what email provider?

Here is what Mail looks like when I open it.

If I tap the light Comcast, it opens the Inbox only. If I tap on the gray one, it will show all folders that exist in the Comcast account.

Now if I tap Edit, this is what I see. This allows me to choose the main inboxes to show at the beginning.

Then this is what the view is when I tap on the gray Comcast line as mentioned above. All my folders.

I hope some of this helps. I would hate to see you throw iPads out the window as a cure.

Yes they were on the XFINITY website until I deleted the account on my 12.9 inch iPad. Even after they disappeared on both the website and the 12.9 inch iPad, they were still present and functional on my 10.5 inch Pro.

I have no idea how to check if it's an IMAP account. Everything I see in account settings and mail settings on iPad settings does not indicate whether or not it's an IMAP account...at least I don't see it if it's there.

To check to see if it is set up as IMAP, go to Setting>Passwords & Accounts, tap on the Comcast account. On the next page, where Account, and your email address appears, look just above that, and it should have IMAP there. If not, it should have POP. While I empathize with your condition, something about how the same account on 3 different devices is working differently is very strange. My Comcast account works on my Windows computer in Outlook 365, on my iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 13.4.1, my iPad Pro 11 with iPadOS 13.4.1, and on my MacBook Air with Catalina 12.15.4. Everything is perfectly in sync. I don't say this to irritate you or dispute what is happening to you, it is just to say that it can work in sync across multiple Apple devices. Something about your account or how it is configured on devices is causing this issue. By the way, you can check the configuration of both the iPhone and the iPad in the same place on each device to check to see if it is configured as IMAP. What also worries me is that if one is or was configured as POP, that is a completely different server than the IMAP one.

Yes, they appear on the other two devices.

I did what you suggested above. I recreated the folders on the website. Then I deleted the comcast email on my 12.9 and reinstalled it. I hade to do it twice to get it to set up as an IMAP account. The first attempt was a POP account again. Now the folders appear on the 12.9. Strange thing still because I don't recall deleting the original IMAP account on my 12.9, but at my age who knows.

Thanks again for all your help. It appears fixed. The original problem seem fixed also. You have been a big help.👍👍👍
