Top Gun 4k not in Dolby Atmos sound?
Why is Top Gun not in Dolby Atmos sound but video is Dolby Vision? All other streaming services (VUDU) streams it in Dolby Atmos. iTunes Dolby Vision is much better than VUDU DV

Do you mean the app on Apple TV? I tried the app on Apple TV and through iTunes moves app and they are both what look like an older paramount logo but both put my tv in hdr mode. Are you saying these aren’t the new remastered version?
Has anyone confirmed if this new Top Gun 4K is in fact the version that was just released on 4K Blu-ray? Will Apple iTunes upgrade the audio to Dolby Atmos.
The same question applies to the recent release of War of the Worlds.
please advise.
That’s good to know that they are just saying it’s a delay. I don’t mind so much waiting as long as we get it eventually. Where did you see this?
I’m also excited that maybe the 4K I watched isn’t even the remastered version and the picture is going to be even better.
Yeah I think there are lots of movies that are vision but not atmos even on disk. Vision doesn’t automatically mean atmos soundtrack. The issue here is that other streaming services and disk have it with atmos and iTunes does not.
Correction: Days Of Thunder is only 5.1 TrueHD on Blu Ray, not Atmos. So a bit of a pants disc release if it contains the same audio as the Blu Ray I bought for about £4 3 years ago. So not quite the same situation as Top Gun.
I would hope we’re going to get the real 4K vision version rather than just adding atmos to the current fake one.
Now I’m wondering if a lot of the iTunes 4K stuff is fake and not as good as other streaming services.
What I will say about what I thought was the new transfer is that there were other things that made me think it was new. For example, the credits at the start looked sharper and didn’t shake/judder as much as this new version. There was also a lot more grain, which tends to be left in place to a greater extent nowadays.
It’s currently playing in HD only at the moment though, so it’s difficult to judge what the new version is really like.
How utterly bizarre. I didn't even know there was still an iTunes Movies app!
I guess (or I hope) that it's perhaps connected to the bandwidth restrictions that may be going on in the background more than Apple are letting on. The main thing is that, long term at least, we will at last have a decent remaster of Top Gun, as either a free upgrade or a pretty reasonable £8.
So we need to petition for Bumblebee, War Of The Worlds & Spies In Disguise to get the Atmos treatment. Looks like they didn't bother with Days Of Thunder.
Now the next mystery to unfold is when Disney+ are going to restore its 4K & Atmos streams (again, a mainly UK problem that I'm not willing to bandage with a VPN) so I can start to enjoy that fully.

So what is your question about your Apple TV?
That’s what I want to know. Do I really have to go rebuy it on Vudu to get atmos sound?
Indeed. Though I can’t see that Prime does (the only other streaming service I use except Disney). Even more reason to remain hopeful that it just has to happen, and soon.
🙂 🍏

I just tried the Apple TV app on a Samsung tv I have and it also has an old looking paramount logo.
There’s quite a few other similar examples. Spies In Disguise, for instance, has Vision with no Atmos... I do hope it appears on the Apple version, or I’ll have to buy the Blu Ray. 😐

All my apps say 4K vision. Maybe it’s not true but that’s what they all say.
Yes, although Spies is Atmos on 4K disc as well.
