Top Gun 4k not in Dolby Atmos sound?
Why is Top Gun not in Dolby Atmos sound but video is Dolby Vision? All other streaming services (VUDU) streams it in Dolby Atmos. iTunes Dolby Vision is much better than VUDU DV
Apple TV 4K, tvOS 13

So if we pre-order & buy the region free 4K Blu Ray from Amazon UK, will the digital redemption card allow access to this version on Apple TV, with or without Atmos?
I’ve never managed to make a 4K Blu Ray’s digital version work with my UK iTunes account. Apollo 13 said I was in the wrong territory and I couldn’t redeem the card, even though again the disc I bought in the UK is supposedly region free.

The only other thing I can think of is are they starting to implement ‘temporary’ restrictions on bandwidth, impacting picture quality and / or Atmos availability, like this tedious business with Disney+ in the UK?
It’s different in each country. Bumblebee and Terminator Dark Fate are both 4K DV and Atmos in the US, where as Baywatch is just DV in the US. It’s a shame you guys don’t have those two in Atmos in the U.K. store as both are outstanding Atmos tracks.
No I mean the description on all the apps and they all have for me since the 13th. I know my tv always shows 4K. Like I said it does switch between sdr and hdr though and top gun does switch my tv to hdr.
How do you know they’re only playing in hd when Apple TV always sends out 4K?
Just to give confirmation the forum guy is correct. I watch yet intro to Top Gun about 4 times a week with my 3 year old and 1.5 year old. They love the beginning. The paramount logo switched to the old one as soon as the 4K was uploaded. It was previously the 100 years logo as it had been for the last few years.
To be fair to them, irritating & beyond a joke as it’s now becoming, maybe Disney are the only ones being as transparent as they might be over what they’ve squished out of their video & audio streams. It wouldn’t surprise me if Apple are doing it more than they’re letting on & hoping nobody will notice.
That’s what I’m hoping and that’s why I’m holding off rebuying it on vudu.
Paramount movies have restricted rights for Movies Anywhere to share across streaming companies.
Difficult to confirm when neither film has been released on iTunes yet (not properly anyway).
However, when they are, the answer to both questions is likely to be yes.
Oh I see what you’re saying.
I’ve just noticed Days of Thunder, which is also released on Blu Ray on June 8th, also is Vision with no Atmos on Apple TV. I’m not holding out for Atmos to just suddenly appear next month... 😞

There’s no such thing as iTunes digital codes for UK disc purchases anymore. That died a death a few years ago unfortunately.
I’m assuming you don’t live in the UK then.
Just got ATMOS update on my version of TOP GUN from Australian iTunes store
Awesome. I see it in the Canadian iTunes Store. Sweet! Now they just need to update War of the Worlds. That’s the title I really want.
