The bigger picture is I'm at home trying to cram as much into my Mac Catalina 10.15.4 as I possibly can. I've been a working composer for over 40 years, I've used this technology all the time, but I'm a musician first and am always baffled and frustrated by new and current tech...just the way it is. But at this point I'm home and I need to write and my hard drive isn full.,so,I'd like to offload some old pieces and such to give more operating room and then I'll sweep through and clean up space. But...Error 50 does not allow for much movement, or at least I'm stuck...

Error code -50 usually means a bad character in a file name:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TA20831

or one or more files or directories in the path might be corrupt:

Boot into Recovery (Command R) and from the dropdown menu: Utilities>  Disk Utility> run the First Aid on your Macintosh HD (and the "Macintosh HD-Data" volume as well if Catalina) If errors are found and repaired, run again until no errors reported.
