Apple Pencil 1st Gen issue - Instant battery drain after charging it 100%

Hello.

I have had this issue since I got the Apple Pencil 1st Generation and could never find a way to fix it.

I have tried everything I have found online to fix it, but still nothing. I plug the Pencil in the iPad Pro’s lightning, it takes a little while to get recognized and letting me pair it. It charges, sometimes slower than other times, it reaches 100%. But right when I pull it off my iPad it goes back to 0% immediately. I have restarted my iPad, turning Bluetooth off and then back on. Nothing.

This issue has been driving me crazy and I cannot find any way to fix it at all. You know this Pencil costs lots of money but this was definitely a waste of money! I could only be able to test it when I bought it and right after there was no way to make it work ever again. Why is it?

I have also tried to find alternatives to the Apple Pencil, but they’re nearly impossible to find where I live, or they’re not compatible with my iPad Pro version (9.7).

If anyone could suggest me another way to fix this issue without having to buy another one, I’d appreciate it greatly.

Hello,

If Apple Pencil’s battery sits depleted for an extended amount of time then it will essentially ruin the battery preventing it from ever holding a charge which makes the Apple Pencil useless. Apple Pencil has a 1 year warranty (when purchased from Apple) which means that Apple will most likely replace it if the battery has failed.

There is a another very good smart Bluetooth stylus alternative to the Apple Pencil that will work for your iPad, but unfortunately, it has been out of stock for nearly 2 months and NOT available anywhere else either, with the worldwide pandemic going on, there is no way to predict when this stylus will be made available by its maker, once again.

So, I am going to post minimal details about this stylus at this point, because there is no place anywhere to obtain this stylus.

It is the Adonit Pixel Stylus. Currently NOT available anywhere

Check it out here.

While No iPad Pro model is listed for its compatibilty, but before the 1st gen Apple Pencil became more compatible with more iPads, this stylus is really THE ONY good alternative smart Bluetooth to the Apple Pencil for earlier iPad Pro models.

It still works and is fully compatible with all the older 2015 and 2016 iPad Pro models that DO NOT have the “Pro-Motion” , 120 Hz screen refresh rate screens.

I know this for a fact because I have two of these that I use everyday with my 2015 and 2016, 12.9 inch screen iPad Pro models and they work just fine.

The drawback is this stylus works with a greatly reduced set of compatible apps, but those apps that are compatible with the Adonit Pixel are the most popular ones.

Only over a dozen popular, third party sketching/drawing/painting apps and approx. 8 or 9 third party note taking apps for a total of approx. 2 dozen compatible apps.

Do not just go by the app compatibility list in the Adonit Pixel Website link, I provided.

I have a much more comprehensive list of known and used Adonit Pixel compatible apps.

But since this stylus is currently unavailable everywhere, there is really no need to post my list of compatible Adonit Pixel stylus apps, unless you really want to know more about this stylus based on my extensive knowledge of this stylus after nearly 3 years of use.

Sorry and Best of Luck to You!
