CANT LOGIN TO FACETIME AND MESSAGES ON MACBOOK PRO

Hello,

I am writing because I can not, and never could, login into FaceTime and Messages on my MacBook Pro.

It is a MacBook Pro  and I’ve had it for about 2,5 years. Everything works just fine except for this. I can and AM logged in to every apple pre-stalled app like Keynote, Notes, Music, Podcast… I got in without problems, so I have no idea what is the issue with not being able to login to FaceTime and Messages.

I also have an iPhone 7Plus where I can not sign in with my Apple ID to either FaceTime or Messages because it says again, that an error occurred during activation.

Please tell me what's the problem and what should I do as soon as possible. Thank you.

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.15

If you still have problems, have someone else attempt to sign in using their Apple ID. If they can successfully sign in and use Messages/FaceTime, it may be your Apple ID. Someone I know had this happen and I was able to sign in using my Apple ID. After a call to Apple Support and then being elevated to a tier 2 support person, it turned out it was a problem with their Apple ID. It took the software engineers 3-4 days to fix the problem. When calling Apple, make sure you tell them it is an Apple ID problem so you don't get charged.

You can also try signing in on another device/computer. There have been a couple of posts where people's device/computer was blocked. You will need to contact Apple for that problem also.

There is a contact link.

These were all great ideas...

It all got resolved when I shut down the computer and restarted. Apple/mac put it all in order again.

I broke the second cardinal rule of solving computer problems; doing a restart!

I used to preach that 20 years ago when I taught school, but have had such a long run of relatively few problems, I forgot.

Apple is so good at making things work that I thought I'd restart to see if they'd put all the ducks in order before calling them for tech support. It worked.

Sorry to be such a time waster for everyone involved. So embarrassed...
