Hello astro2bruce,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand there are issues adding music to a Photos slideshow. I'll do what I can to help.

Here are some suggestions based on your screenshot:

  • See if any music can be added. Some songs are not eligible to be added, especially if they are not purchased songs.
  • Close the Photos app then open Music. Sign in if you haven't already. With the Music app opened, open Photos again and try selecting your songs: Create slideshows in Photos on Mac
  • Restart your Mac from the Apple () menu then Restart. Try adding the songs again.

Have a great day.

Thank you very much for your help. I have done all those things, but the result is the same. I can't even add songs that are my own.

I'm trying to do a slideshow to accompany one of my one songs.

I've been able to a songs from my music library on my ipad, but couldn't see a save or share there.

In any case, i would like to be able to do this on my Mac.

So - after restarting, making sure I'm logged in for both Music and Photos, what happened in the original screenshot is still happening.

This time around I can see that there a some albums and songs that I can add.

When you say "Some songs are not eligible to be added, especially if they are not purchased songs." that confuses me. I subscribe to itunes match as well as buying songs from apple, and the actual song I want to add is my own recording of my own song.

Can I not add my own song to my own photos?

Thank you very much for your help, much appreciated

What is that screenshot from? That does not look like the Photos interface.

I just tried it and got a message that DRM protected songs (purchased from iTunes) could not be used.

However, I could use songs that I ripped from CD's.

This does not explain why you could not use your songs. You might have to burn a CD, and then rip it back.

What format are the songs you create in? Are they MP3's or AIFF's
