iPad Pro 12.9 2nd Gen screen uneven light patch fix?

So my iPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen developed this big patch of uneven light from a small dot which I thought was just a dead pixel. It got bigger and bigger especially when laid flat. Sadly it came up when it's out of warranty. I'm just exploring now if anyone has found any other way to fix it than sending it to Apple and spend more $$$? I'm open to DIY solutions.
