Is there any way to disable the right-hand scroll bar on the iPhone?

I really hope the developers are working on a way to disable the scroll bar. I curse it every day.
On the right-hand side of the screen in my messages and Twitter there is a scroll bar. I use my right hand for my phone and if I touch the bar it rapidly scrolls the screen. I'd like to disable it.
There is no option to disable that feature. It is a standard in all apps and programs that I've seen that span more than one screen.
What are you referring to as the right hand scroll bar? What are you seeing this in and what seems to be the issue?
