How prevent deleting copies of message I email to myself?

I use macOS Catalina's Mail app as IMAP client to GMail. Often when sending a message from Mail to somebody else, I cc myself so as to save the information. But when I go to the Sent folder in Mail and delete what I sent to the other party, then the copy cc'd to me also disappears.

How can I prevent that cc'd copy to me from disappearing (while still being able to delete from the Sent folder)?

I am deleting the single message only from the Sent folder. But then the cc copy that reaches me in the Inbox disappears too!

Add yourself to the Safe List:

Safety settings in your eMail account, may be filtering this out. Seeing yourself as your own sender may be making your eMail message be seen as spam. So, add your own eMail address to the Safe List. Not being on the Safe List, it would be delete from everywhere once deleted.

Don’t Open Spoofed eMails:

If anything to be wary of, don’t open messages that you do not recognize. eMail address names and the eMail address might be being spoofed by senders out there.

Just a guess as I don't have any emails cc'd to myself, but…

Is the Sent mailbox "Organized by Conversation?"

If that is the case, then when you select what you think is the sent message from the list, it is actually the conversation that includes the sent and the CC.

If that seems to be the case, you can disable Organize by Conversation or you need to pick the Sent message from within the conversation (in the viewing pane) and just delete that.
