iPhone Backup

I have been trying to backup my daughter's iPhone 8 plus to her MacBook (Catalina).

When the iPhone is connected , it will vibrate and indicate it is connected and will charge, but it doesn't appear in the Finder window in the left sidebar anywhere.

Therefore, I am unable to click on it to proceed with a backup.

If you're sure you used a correct USB port (not USB hub), and you followed ALL the steps provided in the support article I posted, contact Apple Support directly, using the link at the last line of that article.

Thanks. There last line to try another computer is what I did today. I tried to connect it to my MacBook Pro (also Catalina) and the same thing. The iPhone vibrates to indicate a connection, but it will not show up in the Finder window sidebar.

When she tried on her laptop, the notice "trust this Computer" flashed on and off but never long enough for her to respond.

She was able once to click on her iPhone in the Finder sidebar and it did begin to backup, but disconnected before the backup was complete. Now it won't appear at all.
