Copy movies via Home Sharing does not work anymore - Error 5504

When I try to copy media from my Windows 10 iTunes to my macOS Catalina MBP I get the error "The selected files could not be copied from iTunes Library because an error occurred (5504)".

If I try to copy files from my MacBook to the Windows iTunes installation, iTunes on Windows bails out with "The selected files could not be copied from iTunes Library because this machine is not a member of the Home Sharing for the Apple ID 'my Apple ID'". And after this message Home Sharing got disabled.

I tried restarting all devices, disabled Home Sharing on all devices, wait and re-enable it. Signing out of iCloud and back in again does not help either.

Interesting though is that I'm able to stream the same files that fail above using Home Sharing. Just copying them from one machine to anther fails.

As everything worked perfectly a few days ago and I have not changed anything in my setup, I'm completely confused why this fails now. Anyone has an idea how to fix this?

Same here - between my two Catalina machines, I get the 5504 error, and on my Mojave machine, I get "cannot copy because not a member of the Home Share ..." but it is :(

Just tested this with a fresh account. Signed in to iTunes, authorised the fresh system and enabled Home Sharing. All without errors. Streamed a movie using Home Sharing worked. Tried to copy the same movie to the new system and - bang - the same error as mentioned above.

To me this does not look like a problem on one of my systems. This seems to be related to some kind of authorisation look to Apple that fails.

i'm having this issue with music sharing-unable to import songs between my libraries. i've logged out/in, reauthorized, and restarted both systems, manually stopped and restarted my PC's Bonjour service, even tried uninstalling the last windows 10 update (kb4556799) because that's the only thing different on my systems from yesterday when it worked just fine and that update has gotten some notoriety for causing random trouble. no luck.

I went ahead and sent feedback, and referred to this thread as well. Hopefully this broken feature can be fixed.

Has anyone called Apple about this? I've opened up a case with them and I'm going to continue trying to figure it out.
