Setting up a Mac Mini

I just bought a new Mac Mini. I am using an LG monitor with a VGA cord to a HDMI adapter from Insignia. Computer starts hard drive starts but no image.

please help me

Things are working. I needed power to the apter working now.

Mac mini 2018 boots to macOS installation My 2018 Mac mini (i5/256/32, Sonoma 14.1.1) has been unplugged from mains power for about 24 hrs, and when I turned it on there was no chime and no video (using USB-C connection to LG monitor). I could only get the HDMI connection to work - sometimes - after first booting up with the monitor connected via USB-C, then plugging in HDMI. my 2012 Mac mini does not work with a monitor When I plug in my 2012 Mac mini to a monitor using an HDMI cable nothing shows on the screen. I want to wipe the hard drive but cannot because I can not see anything. Used to work fine but I disconnected for about a year and when I hooked it back up; nothing. same monitor and cables I used before.

Hello,

Do you have access to any other displays? This would help determine if the problem is with your external display, your adapter, or your Mac mini.

Monitor works fine with old Mac Mini circa 2011 from the D Sub port. Should I use the DVI port
