My iPhone X has started to experience random ghost touching. The back glass is only mildy cracked and visited a Authorized service centre. But...
They say that the service will be rejected by Apple(iPhone X devices
won't be serviced in their centre and will be sent to Apple) during
their quality check before repair due to back glass being cracked.
And that Face ID will fail to calibrate after the display
replacement because the wireless charging is damaged due to back glass
being cracked. I've charged it wirelessly and it still works perfectly
fine. I don't think Face ID calibration has nothing to do with Wireless
charging or the cracked back glass! Both the modules are connected separately from each other
So I believe their explanation for rejection is not reasonable.
According to Apple's iPhone X Display Module Replacement Program page
https://support.apple.com/en-in/iphone-x-display-module-replacement-program
"If your iPhone X has any damage which impairs the ability to complete
the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be
resolved prior to the service. In some cases, there may be a cost
associated with the additional repair."
So, I think its logical to say just a barely cracked back glass couldn't impair the ability to just replace the
display module as this program, to my knwoledge, replaces only the
screen and not the whole phone.
I'm form India where only Authorized services are availble here.
I want to report the AASP to Apple or have Apple a word with them to accept the iPhone. But Apple support mail isn't showing up right now maybe due to the pandemic. Got a call back from Apple but to my surprise no one answered after waiting for ~15 mins!
Is there anything I can do to make the AASP accept my iPhone for servicing?
