Powered off iPad Pro battery drain... iPad OS 13.5

This is insane, since updating my iPad Pros 11 2nd Generation, to the latest update, both of iPad Pros have had a battery drain, while the iPads are fully powered down and turned off! Before the iPad OS13.5, neither one of them had this problem or any battery issues! Since both have different back ups, I find it hard to believe this isn’t an issue with the latest release of the OS. Is anyone else having this issue? I mean, literally... I charge both iPad Pros up, to 100%, turn them off, and the next morning they are literally at least than 60%! Is anyone having a similar problem or noticed this kind of battery drain while your iPad or iPhone are totally powered off?

For me, I found that turning it off, by powering it down, doesn't seem to turn it off totally... I found that after it shuts down, if you click the power button, even lightly it will boot back up! My solution came after realizing if I power it down, click it back on, then shut it down again, it seems to stop the power drain! This has worked on both of my iPad pros! Not sure why it isn't shutting down totally the first time it is powered off, but it doesn't ... Even the lightest click of the power button powers it back up, but if I powered it down again, after that boot up, it usually will shut it off totally... You can try that and see if it works...

  1. Power it off totally
  2. Click the power button lightly, after it shuts down! You will see it boots back up, after even the lightest push of the power button, then once it starts up...
  3. Power it down again.
  4. Click button lightly again to make sure it doesn't power up after a light press of the button!

That is what has stopped the power drain for my iPad pros!

I don't know if it will be the same for everyone but this seemed to work on both my iPad pros!

Yes I have the same problem with my new ipad pro 11 inch 2020 wifi and cellular.. Battery drain more than 5% over 8 hours while in airplane mode.. Something very strange for a new apple device.. The battery test is 100%... Despite of that it drains very fast to the degree that makes me worry what will happen to my device battery after a year or two...

I contacted apple support and they ran a diagnostics and they told me that everything is OK... But still I'm worry.. Hopefully this will be a software problem that will be fixed later...

This is fairly well known issue with both iPads AND iPhones.

Apple doesn't seem to have a fix or solution for this, as yet!

You are free and welcome to submit feedback about this issue to Apple.

This is only one of the few ways to directly contact Apple about ANY product issues.

iPad Feedback

http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Cognizant Apple employees read ALL feedback generated from all of the various feedback pages and transfers the data to the proper and responsible Apple teams and personnel, but NO Apple employees will ever respond with any type of direct, individual replies from the feedback you post.

The more users that post product feedback about any product issue, the faster Apple, in California, is made aware and starts working on a fix/solution for a future software update.

If no one posts feedback to Apple, Apple will have NO clue that there are any types of issues with their hardware or software products!

Also, I suggest contacting/reaching out to Apple Product support and services.

If you need to, if initial 1st tier Apple customer support is of no help to you, you can calmly ask to have this issue escalated up to more responsible, senior Apple customer support employees to see if they can come up with a possible solution, but I make no guarantees, whatsoever.

Even if no acceptable resolution, Apple, AT LEAST, logs all support calls and issues

Best of Luck to You!

YES! I have battery drain issues like crazy! I have had issues while it’s on and while it’s off. I turned my ipad off before going to work today, because I wanted the battery to be good when I came home To watch youtube while getting ready for bed, it was 60 something percent. Turned it on when I arrived home and it was at 12%! I’ve also had issues with it shutting off at 20+% battery, no warning of a low battery, just shuts off and won’t let me turn it back on until I plug it up, and it comes back on with the same 20+ battery, so why the flip did it shut off?!?!
