Overheating issues on iOS 13.5

I have been experiencing overheating on my iPhone 11 Pro Max after the iOS 13.5 update even with minimal usage (eg. Safari web browsing). Anyone else having this issue as well?

It is not clear here in your post about the ambient temperature in your area where you are using the iPhone. However --> Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable ...

Store the device where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.

Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures. Using an iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.

I too eagerly updated the iOS 13.5.1 on my iPhone XS Max but no use . Because of overheating my Face ID is not functioning and moreover battery got drained very fastly.

I myself feel very bad after all buying such a world costliest phone which costs more than my one and half months salary . Even neither they do free service or free replacement.

I think apple can’t do anything for us . In this situation god only can help us.

This has been a nightmare for me. All of my stores here are closed due to pandemic and riots, etc, so I couldn't get any help. Here's what I did to fix this:

After completely wiping my phone (after backing it up), I set it up as a new device first (don't connect with iCloud). It was still running hot, and it would not charge. After messing with it for a while, I just let it sit overnight (not charging) and let it completely drain the battery. The next morning, I plugged the phone back in, it charged, did not overheat.

After I was happy with it not getting hot, I decided to wipe the phone again (keep in mind, I still had not logged back into iCloud), and then set it up, again, but this time restoring from my latest backup. Everything loaded within a few hours, and I've still not had any issues with it since. We're now on day two, and it's running fine - better, actually, than before. It's much faster.

I too have an XS and I suddenly found it getting quite uncomfortably hot. This was after installing 13.5.

Here’s what I did. Blaming 13.5 I thought going back to 13.4.1 might help but that didn’t work. So I tried re-setting the device and installed 13.5.1. - I felt a fresh install might help after messing around with reversing back.

It was then I discovered something. Whilst browsing in Safari I felt that familiar heat build up once again so I disabled dark mode. It would appear dark mode draws from the processor thus making the battery temperature rise.

Give it a go, it might help.

Since there is no official word from Apple, we are all just testing things to figure out what the problem may be.

BTW, I updated to 13.5.5 and still experience the overheating... not to the extent that some are experiencing with the warnings but hot to the touch. Also my battery’s maximum capacity has stopped significantly to the overheating. It is at 91% now.

Yes imean on my xs max ios13.5.1 if you open safari and go to news.google.com especially and scroll for just 2min the phone gets crazy warm I guess it’s a safari bug my recommendation would be use alternative browser till ios14 comes out

To be fair it’s not just Safari, it’s anything that requires processor load. My XS calmed down during the week but I’ve noticed it getting hot again. I’ve deactivated everything from Siri to location services and removed Twitter and all news apps. I’ve also deactivated iCloud Drive. Forget using Maps, my phone would probably melt if I attempted that not to mention the sheer battery drain that comes with the rise in temperature.

It’s a shame because it’s a beautiful device but it’s currently not fit for purpose and the sad thing is, Apple won’t or can’t do anything about it ...

I read on YouTube about how people are looking forward to iOS 14. Seriously, why will that be any better. Apple need to get 13 working before they introduce another round of bugs and problems.

I’ve many friends who use Android and they laugh at us lot with our iOS problems yet I’ve always defended my corner with iPhone but I’m running out of patience now.
