Overheating issues on iOS 13.5

I have been experiencing overheating on my iPhone 11 Pro Max after the iOS 13.5 update even with minimal usage (eg. Safari web browsing). Anyone else having this issue as well?

It is not clear here in your post about the ambient temperature in your area where you are using the iPhone. However --> Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable ...

Store the device where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.

Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures. Using an iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.

I'm having the same issue. During normal usage, in ambient temps of 65 degrees or so iPhone heats up to where I can hardly hold it. I close all apps, have background data refresh turned on, on only a handful of apps and it gets blistering hot. Yesterday, I wasn't even using it after closing all my apps and it started to burn (no, not seriously) my leg in my pocket. When I looked, it had drained the battery by nearly 30% in the last half hour without any usage. Monitoring my usage patterns (comparing my Week over Week screen time usage) I'm getting about half the battery life I normally do and the temp (both on the screen side and back side) is extremely concerning. So hot that I wouldn't dare let a child play with my phone. The Week over Week comparisons are important, as I only updated my software 3 days ago.

This is so annoying with so many of us suffering this silly issue. The iPhone X had problems in 2017 so it’s not a recent thing.

Unfortunately you can’t go back to a previous iOS. Although it would help us, for the bigger audience probably not. Apple would have a situation similar to Android with people running a mish mash of outdated Software which would cause more problems.

I have an IPhone X and since I updated it to 13.5.1 it overheats to the point i cannot touch it. I have tried everything all of the suggestions I have even reset it twice now to factory settings… To no avail! Almost afraid to charge it thinking it’s going to catch fire....not sure what else to do I’m in a normal climate indoors – not too hot not too cold very comfortable home, nothing extreme...

Not sure how else to correct the problem and our Apple stores where I live are all closed still… Has anybody had any luck correcting the problem?

Apple, do you plan on fixing this problem anytime soon…??

Oh great, so even the new phones are having the same problem?

Apple, this is not making me want to upgrade and I was planning on doing that this week.

my 7 is overheating to the point where it burned my hand and the skin was sensitive to the touch for several days. This is not safe.

I'm using it in an air conditioned house, temp is in the low to mid 70s. It overheats even in low power mode, does not matter if it’s plugged in.

I am having the same overheating problems on 13.5.1. On some apps I can start to feel it heat up after a minute.

I have tried a few suggestions. Making sure all my apps were up to date seemed to have helped a little bit but still the problem is there.

Has anyone had any success? I am loathed to do a full factory reset especially as some people have said it made no difference.
