How to pair with "Confirm on Apple Watch" (in Watch App) after restoring complete?

How can I get my Apple Watch to sync with the new iPhone?

The iPhone shows the following message:

Confirm on Apple Watch
Check your Apple Watch to confirm pairing and continue. Keep your Apple Watch nearby and on your wrist to finish pairing

The Apple Watch does not show such a prompt to finish the pairing.

The Situation:

  • I restored my backup to a new iPhone 11 Pro Max (iOS 13.5) from an iCloud Backup
    • Upon restoring, I agreed to pair my Apple Watch 3 (OS 6.2.5) in the setup
    • The restoring process worked fine - the new iPhone spent around 16 hours to recover all data (including the Health Data stored in the iCloud)
    • Yet, the final sync between the new iPhone and the Apple Watch is pending (see screenshot)
    • There is no prompt on the Apple Watch as indicated by the iPhone to confirm the pairing. iPhone is close to the Apple Watch; Apple Watch is unlocked at the wrist.

The issue further explained

  • As the old iPhone X (iOS 13.5) unfortunately is inaccessible, I cannot do the usual process of unpairing the Apple Watch to backup the data in the phone
  • Now, there are 3 days of data on the Apple Watch that I would like to keep

The pending step is a complete Erase of the Apple Watch and re-pair with the new phone has not been taking as this would mean a data (and Movement Streak) loss of 3 days.

The current process and attempts

  • Switch on/off Bluetooth and WiFi on both Apple Watch and iPhone
  • Restart both Apple Watch and iPhone
  • Reset Network Settings on iPhone

Other Information

  • Both Apple Watch and iPhone's names have not been changed at this point in time

Apple Watch Series 3, watchOS 6

I am not sure what are you referring to.

What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support

iCloud backup doesn’t include information that are synced and stored in iCloud, like Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks, Mail, Notes, Voice Memosshared photosiCloud Photos*, Health data, call history, and files you store in iCloud Drive.

*-If you had turned on iCloud Photos, your content is automatically stored in iCloud.

Hi SravanKra,

Thank you very much for your kind reply. Understood that makes sense.

Yet, might you also be able to refer to the actual problem question raised in this post?

Let me make it short:

  • The Apple Watch does not pair with the new iPhone despite selecting the option when setting up the phone upon restoring from the iCloud backup.
  • Other than the pairing, all data seem to be restored (whether from the iCloud or Backup)

Thank you very much in advance.
