Purchasing an iPhone?

So I’m wanting to purchase an iPhone. Does anyone know if buy one from Apple with the option unlocked, would I be able to go to cricket? Or does it need to be a bigger company? Please help!

Apple sells unlocked phones and you can use them with any carrier or service.
