Mac Pro won't recognize a 3rd monitor

Hey,

My Mac Pro (2013) is suppose to support up to 6 monitors but when I plug a 3rd one in it won't recognize it. Just keep getting a black screen, and nothing on the computer shows that a 3rd has been detected. I have tried detect monitor, putting it to sleep, and turning the comp on and off. All the software is up to date. It also doesn't matter which monitor is the 3rd. All 3 are the same and using one of the 6 thunder bolt ports, and all 3 will work as the second monitor but none will work as the 3rd so I know it's not a cable or monitor issue. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Use multiple displays with your Mac Pro (Late 2013) - Apple Support

If the displays use DVI, any adapters after the first two, have to be Active Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapters. The Apple article says to use their Dual-link DVI adapter, but that's just because that's the only active adapter that Apple makes. Single link active adapters will work if the resolution isn't over 1920 X 1200.

HDMI adapters count as DVI, including the one used by built-in HDMI port. (That adapter is not active.)
