iMessage app drawer not working for memoji and #images, while on Downtime

My child’s iPhone (on a family share iCloud account) is recently having issues with the memoji and #images apps inside the iMessage app. These are no longer responsive (though the icons are present) while the phone is under Downtime. I have set iMessage and most other apps (including all Apple apps except FaceTime) to be “always available” during Downtime. However, these two apps continue to be non-responsive. If I go to a previous memoji previously sent in an iMessage thread, and long press, it does allow me to see the full set of memoji options. This problem is new, within the last couple of weeks; previously these app drawer apps worked while the phone was on Downtime. I recently installed iOS 13.5, and the device is an iPhone 8.

Any suggestions on the settings that need to be applied for these to work while the device is under Downtime?

Thanks!

iPhone 8

Hi, Daniel,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. I understand that when Downtime is enabled on your child's iPhone 8, they are unable to use Memoji stickers or the #images iMessage apps. I'm happy to provide you with some information!

Currently, even if Messages is an allowed app during Downtime, these specific App Drawer apps are blocked by Downtime. If you'd like, you can provide Apple feedback on that feature here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple.

Have a good weekend.
