Ipod Nano 7 Pairs to Bluetooth but No Sound

I have a 7th gen ipod Nano and recently purchased some JVC bluetooth earphones for it. It pairs easily and I can even change tracks with the earphones, but I cannot hear anything! To check the earphones I then connected it to my Samsung phone and have no problems at all. Volume is on max but no sound. Any ideas?
