Catalina page downloads

I downloaded Catalina 10.15.5 the other day. Now webpages load very slowly or not at all. Has anyone experienced a similar problem. Never had this issue with the Mojave OS.

Thanks!

A Few Thoughts:

  • Restart the Mac:

Having updated your Mac, and any other application(s), restart the Mac - shut it down, wait 30 seconds, then power it up. See if this no long occurs.

Then...

  • Clear Temporary Internet Files

Try clearing your Temporary Internet Files (Cookies & Cache) of Safari. Cookies perform remembrance of certain site-entered data. Whereas Cache keeps a snapshot of the last time you visited a site.  Use this Link: Clearing History and Cache - Apple Communities

Then...

  • Scan for Malware:

Start with running a scan for malware, using Malwarebytes for Mac and remove what is found.

Then...

Sometimes changes are made to the system and then settings (i.e. for the Safari) become manipulated, technically. So, reset both on your Mac.

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Safe Mode - About.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin.

Sorry to say the problem persists. I reset theSMC and the NVRAM. When I reset the the NVRAM my MacBook went into recovery mode. Is that what's supposed to happen? Also, it resetting SMC, it didn't look like anything happened at all.

This happened once before four years ago when Apple upgraded to the OS before Mojave. I can't recall how the problem resolved except I was on the phone with an Apple tech for several days. That's when I had an extended warranty.

Thank you for your help. If you think of anything else let me know. Also, I wonder whether my internet service might be a problem for some reason.

You are welcome.

Yes, it is supposed to go into Recovery Mode.

Internet Services may be a big concern due to many working out of the house, and many taking classes remotely from school. I have received word from my ISP that they, themselves are do thing best the can to keep up.
