airpod not recognize by my iphone

I just got a new pair of Airpods but when I open the case is not showing up on my phone.

How to pair AirPods case to my iPhone? My friend gave me a AirPod pro case, i tried. pairing it to my phone. but it wouldn’t work. I tried resetting it. I did everything I could try. AirPod Pro not connecting to phone Opening case, I click connect on my phone and am then my iPhone says “hold button” and I hold it for over 15 seconds letting the little light blink amber multiple times, they still do not connect to my phone. (iPhone 11, just updated, Bluetooth on, restarted). These are a pair of recently purchased AirPods that have never been used with my phone before.
