I've had Apple TV for years. It quit working and everything I've tried is not successful. The light is on, I try to reset, get the blinking light but no response on screen. Can't find Apple TV when I connect it to my MacBook.

The bottom of the box should have the model number. It's either going to be a 2nd or 3rd gen. You would be connecting it to your computer in order to do a restore, but the model will have a bearing on the process needed in order to do that.
Which Apple TV do you have and have you attempted a factory reset?
I even saved the box, but don't see which Apple TV I have. Probably have had it 6-8 years. Not sure what a factory reset it. Can they just "go bad" with age?
