Apple ID verification failed
I keep getting an error when trying to log into my Apple ID saying “verification failed, The application you have selected does not exist”
this is on my iPhone 8, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 2.

I'm also experiencing this today (June 2, 2020), but on a Mac.
Maybe some more detail that could help: this morning I got an error "Your Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons." Not entirely sure what happened, I went through the recommended steps and reset my password on a MacBook Pro (2019 - work laptop), and then logged in to AppleID/iCloud again. I repeated this on my iPhone XS successfully. I was also able to log in to my AppleTV successfully.
This evening, I opened up my MacBook Pro (2015 - personal laptop) and got prompted to log back in with Apple ID - not surprising. But I got the "The application you have selected does not exist" error repeatedly. I rebooted also. No luck.

(note that's EDT, so the issue was known almost 2hrs prior to the original post, and almost 3hrs from now.
APPLE JUST UPDATED (@4:55) TO SHOW THERE IS AN ISSUE ON THEIR SYSTEM STATUS WEBSITE.
This is happening to me too! On a newer iPad, Apple Watch 2 I believe, and iPhone XS.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one... I was getting super anxious and changed my password more than once.
I even looked at other threads/sites trying to problem solve using their ideas based on other issues that involved the apple ID - restarted my iPhone, tried to sign out and sign back in (which it won't let you with this issue due to find my iphone), reset my password... all to no avail.
I figured it out ,, this worked for me so if it doesn’t for you I’m sorry man I tried.. ,, okay step 1: reset password
step 2: make the notification come back saying “verification failed”.
step 3: enter in your old password ,, then once it says error wrong password or whatever ,, type in your new password the 2nd time it asks you and it could work. That’s what worked for me on my iPad Pro and iPhone 11
hey everyone I was able to finally get in! four things:
moral of the story, dang it why we have to rely on technology so much and why is it so frustrating when ur Apple ID locks you out even though you can still do most things on your devices without it IMO. so strange. IDK what changed in the air but its working again on my end. good luck!

I was having this same problem for the last hour. Restarted my phone and was able to sign in again. Everything seems to be working.
You should be able to install the latest update and fix that issue. Was able to solve this problem for an iPhone 8 today by doing this.

Al parecer hay un problema *** el sistema Icloud, después de unas horas debería de funcionar bien.
Updated to 13.5.1 and tried again - everything worked
I updated to the most recent IOS Software Update and it solved my problem. Hope it does the same for you!
