I don't have permission to change my permissions.

For some reason, I can't change permission on certain programs on my mac. I am running 10.15.5 Catalina and I am the admin. I get the following error message:

I am the admin. I should have access to everything. There are many useless apps which I don't even touch and I want to delete. I realized that I have access to certain folders and internet downloaded apps or app store downloaded apps. Please help.

Yes, you cannot change the permissions on a System folder, nor can you modify it in any way.

Since that part of the OS is mounted read-only, you would have to boot up from another source and modify the folder from there.

Since those are part of the OS, an update might restore them.

There is nothing particularly special about an admin user on macOS. You merely have the ability to temporarily elevate your privileges, but even root cannot delete those files because the volume is mounted read only.
