Glitches in Netflix on Safari

I got a new MacBook Air in April, and everything was fine until last week, when Netflix started glitching on Safari - there would be split second lags before the show I was watching would continue. These glitches would occur about 6 times an hour. I have no extensions or add-ons. I cleared the cache and restarted. I also tried a little fix I found online involving tweaking an accessibility setting. These things haven't fixed the problem. I can just watch Netflix on Firefox from now on, I guess, but it seems weird that I wouldn't be able to watch it in Safari on a brand-new laptop.


I'd love to know if anyone else has had similar issues or if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!

You did an awesome job testing out this issue with another web browser. This helps me further isolate the issue.


Let's try using another user account with the Safari app to see if you can reproduce the issue.

If the issue does occur on another user account as well, be sure to do the following:


1) Update your macOS software: How to update the software on your Mac


2) See if you can reproduce the issue using safe mode this time: How to use safe mode on your Mac
