Panic CPU CATERR detected (error)

Yes it doe continue in Big Sur.

My problem is using windows and excel on parallels, but the problem only seems to occur when using my Sonnet 650 eGPU with the Radeon Pro WX7100. A recommended apple graphics card by the way!!

The reason I changed to a new Mac Mini was my mac pro was doing this, only purchased late 2020 and guess what, the new mac mini that cost me about £1200 is doing the same. Apple just fob you off, it's not hardware related, it's just an increasingly buggy OS. If I run youtube in safari and parallels/windows 10 at the same time I'm almost guaranteed one of these freezes. Utter junk!

The small fragment of the panic report you posted is not enough to determine the exact cause.

Kernel panic, even with CATERR, is not ONE problem, it is one of THOUSANDS of problems. Each has a unique cause and solution.

Do NOT assume you have the same issue as any others posting here.

This thread is already to long to provide personal advice for each user. Start a new discussion with details of your Mac and your MacOS, and a copy of your panic report for personalized attention from other Users.

OR-- use the "get support" link at the top each form page to contact Apple for assistance.

These are just the sort of things you have to live with owning a Mac, to be fair I always found Windows buggy and less robust than OS X, it's amazing the issues that crop up though given the low resource using nature of what I do for the Mac to lock up is very poor.

confirmed it is not related to the external monitor. Just had another crash and I haven't plugged it into the monitor since the last crash... this s-u-c-k-s @apple.

Wish I was as lucky as you 2. Still having constant kernel panics. I had one the other day and I was in the middle of zoom. Screen went blank/black - Lost everything but audio.

I'm glad the router switch out helped your Apple Watch woes!! Hopefully it wasn't just a pleasant coincidence.

I have the same exact problem with a Mac Pro 2 weeks old, same case... never saw my iMac freeze that many times in years. Can't believe this is happening with a $6K machine.

Had the same issue with my Macbook Pro 15" 2019.

Always send reports to Apple but there is no any changes, responding,...

Any more information on this? We are seeing regular crashes of this sort --- perhaps one or two a week. Often occurs during zoom meetings, but that is often what is going on with this machine.

I am running MacOS Big Sur Beta, and I still face this issue, so evidently Apple did not fix this issue in Big Sur.

Here is a list of the panics that have occurred on my machine. I started adding the data to track how often they occur.

I have this same issue with my MBP and I never use an external monitor.
