iOS 13.5.1 battery drain

The battery drain from background activity in iOS 13.5.1 is horrible. Happens on several apps, currently Bloom berg and Teamsnap. Same problem on my iPad and my wife's iPhone Xs. Come on Apple, this needs to be fix now!

Apple needs to know about the catastrophic update they made.

Maybe just if it cares about Apple Music LOL!

I do not have the subscription and Music is not the culprit for me but even the replacement iPad I got is not fully charging

What it solves- for 2-3 days - is to force restart it. This is an issue of the diabolic 13.5.1

Apple needs to fix it!! It's going on since June

Shame on APPLE!

The issue is with the iOS 13.5.1 - I do not have Apple Music, and I have all apps disabled for background. I am not the only person in this household with the issue so it is not just my phone. I have a 6S and this started happening this past week: the phone gets blazing hot when in use, and drains battery completely in less than an hour. I thought it was related to storage issue, which I resolved, but that did not help. Apparently a fix is in 13.6 which is still in beta, but you would think Apple would respond more quickly, or yes, lose a customer to some other brand. It is extremely difficult to be held hostage like this, especially when I count on my phone for work.

I HAVE sent feedback to Apple, but I am just one voice.

That’s exactly what happened, my last comment was deleted.

so, here’s my advice for this overheating problem. Buy a new battery, turn off all Siri, music and push notifications, wait for another update past the 13.4 update because it appears that Apple Music is still causing issues with “some phones”. Use only what you have to and keep the phone plugged in until absolutely needed.

since I did the above, I have really good battery life.

Overtime when you have subjected different charging cycles to your device (usually over a month), it loses its ability to give an exact measurement of battery level of your device. So it’s imperative to calibrate the battery of your device once a month. Also, it is okay to restart your device once in 7-10days to get rid of remnant temporarily files, all you will lose is 2 min. For this, do not bring the battery level down to zero. Keep it at around 30% before doing. And as for calibration, I presume you know the steps already. Always try to use the charger that came with your device. Knock-off chargers will only prove harmful.

yeah, about that... the best thing i have managed to achieve is to get good battery life for a few days. Then the drain inevitably comes back on its own. I thought all this was mail related, but it seems that it is not.

The thing is that i can get a good battery life (3% drop per night), use it for 2 days with a single charge but then the drain would come back randomly and stay. I really don't know the cause for that. For example, i had the good battery life, went to sleep, during the night the phone lost 3% (which is brilliant), the i watched youtube, browsed my photos for an hour and then put my phone away (all apps closed). the phone remained idle but now it was draining again. This leads me to think that somehow in the morning i did something that triggered a background process that began to drain the battery. But now i know that this specific occasion is not mail related as i uninstalled mail a week ago or so. The only apps i opened were settings, youtube, snapchat and photos; and after that the drain started again.

Food for thoughts.

Another thing is that i was doing force restart very often, and my battery was starting to act funny (uneven discharge with big drops, even increase in battery level with no charger connected) but i fixed this by doing a power cycle (discharging to 15% or so, then connecting a charger, turning off my phone, charging for 3 hours or so, then turning my phone on and doing a force restart) - also an interesting thing is that after this procedure the drain went away for a few days as well.

Food for thoughts again.
